Ladies, when picking out your next haircut, it can be a daunting decision. Here are some tips to make this decision a little less painful!

I have services for both men and women to make your time in my shop relaxing, a source of excellent self-care, and to help you feel and look your best. Ladies, please make sure to schedule an appointment as quickly as possible! My appointment slots are filling up quickly, and I want to make sure to see you soon. Please know I continue to follow strict guidelines to keep everyone who comes into my shop happy and healthy. Please don’t be concerned about that!
Some of these tips and suggestions will be a little familiar, as they are similar to how men find their perfect haircut. There are still many things that make getting a haircut very unique for women, so be prepared to learn. When it comes to choosing a new hairstyle, it is a big choice to make. You’re creating a statement, a new look, and wanting to feel good about yourself. That is a very big responsibility and choice. Skip the stress and worry, and remove the anxiety. Follow these tips and suggestions and you will be very happy with what you choose. Take these tips and your decision seriously. A brand new haircut can have a huge impact on how you look and feel.
The two things you need to consider first is the shape of your face and the texture of your hair. Some hair types just won’t hold certain cuts. On the other hand, when it comes to the shape of your face, there there are certain things you don’t want your haircut to highlight. If you choose the wrong cut, you could be making your face and other attributes seem bigger or smaller than they are. For women, there are six common face shapes; diamond, rectangle, heart, round, square, and oval. Each shape, just like it does for men, has a particular cut and style that is recommended for it. You can always break the rules, but know that doesn’t always come with great results.
  • Diamond Shape: A diamond face is usually known for high cheekbones, so pick a cut that will show these off. A cropped and short style looks great to show off the cheeks. A longer style with layers that frame the face is also an excellent choice. If you want bangs, opt for longer ones that land around your cheekbones.
  • Round Shape: A round face has very soft features that are rounded and the cheeks are the widest part of the face. Cuts that can lengthen the face are a good choice. A shaggy bob or voluminous swoop bangs are a good choice for this face shape, too.
  • Rectangular Faces: This face type is defined by the jawline, cheeks, and forehead all being the same distance from forehead to chin. Long layers, big volume, and side-swept fringe are great choices for this face shape.
The next step you need to take is figuring out what the texture and type of hair you have. This will be one of the biggest deciding factors as to what your hair can and cannot do. Thick hair can hold a lot of different hairstyles and is easy to deal with for everyday styling. Very fine hair does take a little more effort every day, and if you limit (but still have) layers and texture in your hair, it can help you maintain your chosen style and maintain the length and the amount of hair you have. Thinner hair is best for shorter cuts with limited or no layers. The less fuss, the fuller your hair looks. If you have thick curly hair, adding layers, even on the shaggy side, can help maintain and create shape while avoiding a big ball of fuzz.
When coming in to get your hair done, always come prepared. I recommend this to all of my clients. Find a celebrity or someone you admire who realistically has a similar face and body type to your own. What cuts look great on them and which ones do you love? Be open when you walk into my shop to suggestions and possibly a slightly different idea than what is in your mind. Trust me when I say that I can help you find the perfect cut and style.
Please also consider how much time and care you want to put into your hair every day. Do you want something that takes a very small amount of maintenance and product in the morning? Do you have the time and desire to wake up early to use all the needed tools and products to get your desired look? Also, think about how your hair is involved in your everyday life. Are you someone who puts their hair up when you’re active or warm? Does it need to be versatile or are you looking for a consistent look? Each of these questions and how you live day to day needs to be considered and answered truthfully. Once you make these decisions, it’ll be easier to pick and narrow down what you’re looking for.
Most of all, please be honest with me and communicate with me. When I ask if you like your cut or not, make sure to tell me. I want to be able to fix anything right away than have you leaving unhappy. I want you to leave my shop feeling wonderful and confident with your cut every time. I hope this has helped ladies!
